Privacy policy

VinylPeek is a browser game. This page explains exactly what we store and why, in plain English.
What we collect
- An account identifier. Everyone gets a Firebase account — anonymous by default. It exists so your streak and progress survive a page refresh.
- Game data. Your display name, scores, streaks, which albums you've played and how many tiles you revealed.
- Your email address — only if you choose to sign in with Google or with an email link.
- Payment records. If you buy Premium, Stripe processes the payment. We store only a customer reference and your subscription status. We never see or store your card details.
Marketing emails
We only email you about VinylPeek if you have explicitly opted in on your profile — creating an account or signing in with Google does not subscribe you to anything. We record when and how you gave that consent. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can withdraw consent at any time by unticking the box on your profile.
Cookies and local storage
- Essential: your sign-in session, the cached album index, and your cookie preference. The game cannot work without these.
- Advertising: only if you press "Accept all". If you choose "Essential only", no advertising script is loaded at all.
Advertising
Free play is supported by Google AdSense. With consent, Google may set cookies to personalise ads. You can review Google's practices at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Premium members are never shown ads and no ad script is loaded for them.
With consent, we also use the Meta pixel to measure whether our advertising on Facebook and Instagram works. Meta may set cookies and receive information about your visit; see Meta's privacy policy. If you choose "Essential only", the pixel is never loaded.
Who we share data with
Google Firebase (hosting, database, authentication), Google AdSense (advertising, with consent), Meta (advertising measurement, with consent) and Stripe (payments). We do not sell your data to anyone.
What's public
Your display name and score appear on the leaderboards. Nothing else about you is visible to other players. You can change your display name at any time on your profile.
Deleting your account and data
You can have everything we hold about you deleted. There is no self-service delete button in the game yet, so it is done by email — but it is a real deletion, not a deactivation.
How to request it
- Email vp-info@ai-up.co.uk from the address you use for VinylPeek, with the subject "Delete my data".
- If you have only ever played as a guest and never signed in, tell us your display name (shown at the top of your profile page) so we can find the right account.
- We will confirm by reply once it is done. We action deletion requests within 30 days, and usually much sooner.
What gets deleted
- Your account and account identifier
- Your display name, scores, streaks and album progress
- Your leaderboard entries
- Your email address and any marketing-consent record
What we have to keep
Records of any payment you made, because UK tax law requires us to retain transaction records. These are held by Stripe and are limited to the fact and amount of the payment — they contain no card details and no game data.
Deleting the data held in your browser
Your device also stores your session, cookie preference and a cached album list. To clear those, delete this site's data in your browser settings — in most browsers, under Privacy → Cookies and site data. Doing this on its own does not delete your account on our servers; email us for that.
Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Premium access ends with the account.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can request a copy of your data, correct it, or have it deleted — see the section above. Email vp-info@ai-up.co.uk and we'll action it within 30 days. You can also withdraw cookie consent by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Children
VinylPeek isn't directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their data.
